Role Overview: We’re looking for a motivated Security Operations Intern to join our Information Security team this Fall (starting September 16, 2024). This role is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC). You’ll play a key role in tackling security issues, enhancing our defensive measures, and maintaining Workiva’s security posture. You’ll work with tools like Splunk and collaborate with internal teams to support our security initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document and analyze security issues and emerging trends.
- Provide support for Incident Response when actionable incidents occur.
- Manage and configure security tools and devices to enhance monitoring capabilities.
- Develop alerts, reports, and visualizations for security and compliance tasks.
- Triage and respond to security alerts and collaborate with other teams to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a similar field with a security focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong ethical judgment and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and networking skills for effective collaboration.
- Proficient in critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn and understand technical systems.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Basic skills in programming languages such as Python, Java, SQL, Go, or Dart.
- Familiarity with Splunk (SPL) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) is advantageous.
