Data Science Intern - Salary Analysis Module (Paid) - [ Fully Remote ]

The mission

Help us build Sri Lanka’s most accurate Tech Salary Insights—role-, skill-, seniority-, and location-adjusted. You’ll turn raw salary data into trustworthy benchmarks and APIs that power our product and content.

What you’ll do

  • Ingest and clean salary data from job posts and employer submissions (ETL pipelines).

  • Perform EDA and outlier handling (IQR/z-score, winsorization) to ensure robust medians & percentiles (P10/P25/P50/P75/P90).

  • Build models for normalization (role, experience, location, skills) and trend analysis.

  • Ship a Salary Index and benchmark endpoints used by our web app.

  • Create clear visualizations and dashboards for internal stakeholders.

  • Document methods, data dictionaries, and reproducibility steps.

Tech you’ll use

  • Python 3, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Jupyter

  • SQL (MySQL/Postgres), basic query optimization

  • Matplotlib/Plotly for charts; dbt/Airflow (bonus)

  • Git/GitHub, basic CI for data checks

You’ll thrive if you have

  • Solid statistics fundamentals (distributions, confidence intervals, regression basics).

  • Strong data-wrangling skills and attention to edge cases.

  • Clear communication and ownership mindset.

  • Must: valid university student ID (undergrad or postgrad).

Nice to have

  • Experience with scraping pipelines (Requests/BS4/Scrapy) and API integrations.

  • Time-series or forecasting exposure.

  • Kaggle/GitHub projects showcasing EDA and modeling.
